1.) Film negatives to the collections of H. Schaub:

There exists a large collection of film negatives to the micrographs illustrated in the various publications of Hans Schaub. They are stored in 21 wooden boxes containing film negative numbers 1 through 32746.

There exists an extra set of film negatives taken with a small camera, containing numbers from 1326 through 7078, and 13027 through 16999.

A set of 9 carnets (with black cover) contains hand written lists, that correlate film negative numbers with the specimen's C numbers of the museum:


Curatorial notes:
Film negative numbers are mostly not mentioned in the publications of Hans Schaub. However, through the above lists it is always possible to cross-reference a film negative to a C-number and so to a particular specimen. During the compilation of the plates, Hans Schaub has often produced several print versions (different magnifications, varying contrast) from the same negative. Each print bears also a number, which, however, sometimes appears to follow a different numbering than from those of the negatives.

2.) Supplementary information on the nummulite and assilina collection of H. Schaub, prepared by Gyorgy Less (1996/1997):

1.) Reprint of Less, G. and Kovacs, O. (1996). Age estimates by European Paleogene Orthophragminae using numerical evolutionary correlation. Geobios, 29(3):261-285. Paper based in partem on diverse collections deposited at the Natural History Museum in Basel.

4.) Archive to Schaub, H. (1981).

The monumental work of Schaub, H. (1981) includes, next to the collection, numerous documents (original diagnoses to nummulites and assilines, notes, drawings, selected film negatives, and original photographic prints to the plates of the Atlas, spiral drawings and spiral diagrams), that are judged to be of value to nummulite specialists or can be re-used for morphometric investigations (foto prints and drawings, for example). These documents are therefore archived next to the reference-, study- and research collections of Hans Schaub.

The collection of photographic prints of nummulites and assilines are an assortment of prints of various quality, and some with varying magnifications, in order to compile the published plates in the Atlas volumes I and II. They are sorted in order of the plates shown in the Atlas I and II.
