This is a detailed and well illustrated excursion guide including maps and sections to numerous Paleogene sites studied and sampled by Hans Schaub, Christos Kapellos, Manfred Reichel and Lukas Hottinger. Especially the collections of Hans Schaub contain materials from all of these localities. This copy of the guide is from Lukas Hottinger.

(5th ?) Colloque de Micropaléontologie 1957 - Aquitaine. This excursion (8-15 September, 1957) visited numerous locations in SW-France, from where Hans Schaub recovered his materials. It includes localities araound Dax, Biarritz, Pyreblanque, Chalosse, Bastennes, Pau, Pont Labau, Donzacq (Carriere de la Tuilerie), Jeangazé, Ainse Saint Nicolas and others. The excursion guide briefly illustrates the micropaleontological contenst of the outcrops in maps and stratigraphic schemes, and is useful for the documentation of the collections of hans Schaub and Lukas Hottinger.
(Note: The guide indicates stops, from where Lukas Hottinger [it was Lukas Hottinger's copy] has picked up samples).

A large portion of the raw and nummulite study materials of Hans Schaub comes from the locations visited during this congress. Typical locations, from where Hans Schaub has taken samples include: Bearn, Chalosse de Montort, Biarritz (Bidart, Peyreblanque, Pte St. Martin), the Aquitaine Basin and the river sides of the Adour and Gave de Pau (Gibret- Montfort- Nousse - Louer; Gan - Pont Labau), Orthez; and the area around Bordeaux.

An introduction to the regional geology and stratigraphy is given in the various excursion guides, handouts and stratigraphic schemes provided during that congress. A complete set of these documents is deposited alongside with the collection of Hans Schaub under lit. 1er Colloque International de Stratigraphie du Paléogène 1962. For complete set see the two volumes Colloque sur le Paléogène from B.R.G.M., No. 28.
