Back to overview of collections from Hans Schaub

Collection of thin sections of Hans Schaub:

This is a large collection of thin sections from nummulite and assilina- bearing rocks from many locations and sections in Switzerland, Spain, France and other provenances. They were used in various studies and publications. The five-digit numbers on each preparations help to identify the provenances of the samples (first two digits indicate the year of sampling, last three digits indicate the sample in the field section). Rock-pieces and cuts to these slides are kept separately in the raw materials collection from the Tethys area of Hans Schaub (deposited in Compactus G). There exist several catalogues and indexes with the Schaub collection with listings and locations from where all the samples came from. Because the nummulite collection of Hans Schaub is very large it is at this moment out of scope (and impossible) to give a full on-line inventory of nummulite samples. Indicated below is therefore a brief and dirty survey showing the ranges of field-numbers of thin sections per lot. Interested parties can so easier locate a particular series of thin-sections and eventually link them to the vast materials deposited in the raw material collection of Hans Schaub. For information about the provenance of the materials consult the sample documentation prepared by Hans Schaub.
