Collection of models (copies) of smaller benthic and planktic foraminiferes after d'Orbigny (1826). Deposited with the collection is a copy of Vénec-Peyré, M.-T. (2005). Les planches inédites de Foraminifères d'Alcide d'Orbigny à l'aube de la micropaléontologie. Publications Scientifiques du Muséum, Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, Paris.
The collection was originally deposited at the geological library of the Geological-Paleontological Institute, University of Basel. It was transferred and deposited with the collection of the NMB on 2 December 2010.
Alongside to the models, a collection "Mikrofilm Fichier Alcide d'Orbigny et Henri Douvillé" is deposited comprising 19 film negative stripes showing the "Plances Inédites" of Alcide d'Orbigny and from H. Douvillé. Enclosed is also a reprint of Lys, M. (1948). Introduction to "Planches Inédites" of Alcide d'Orbigny. International Geological Congress "Report of Eighteeth Session, Great Britain, 1948, Part XV, pp. 3-11. See cit. "fichier Alcide d'Orbigny etabli par J. Sigal et M. Lys" in the Dissertation of Hottinger, L. (1960a) at the bottom of page 43 !
This collection of microfils was rediscovered on 16 May 2012 at the NMB during curation of the scientific legacy of Prof. Lukas Hottinger.
