Eureka samples
 
Collection of 132 washed residues (in bags and boxes), slides and picked assemblages from 5 Eureka wells comprising samples from the Upper Cretaceous through Quaternary from the De Soto Canyon to Florida Escarpment, northern Gulf of Mexico. The wells were drilled as stratigraphic holes 1965-1968 by Shell Oil Company on the northern slope of the Gulf of Mexico. The material was donated 1980 by Frank van Morkhoven of Shell Oil Houston to Hans M. Bolli.

41 samples from Eureka well E68-136, interval 1830 - 2822 '
40 samples from Eureka well E68-139, interval 6079 - 6863 '
8 samples from Eureka well E68-141, interval 5310 - 5386 '
9 samples from Eureka well E68-151A, interval 4416 - 4486 '
1 sample from Eureka well E66-40D, interval 2905 ' (middle Eocene)
 
Original residue samples in yellow bags were splitted in aliquots of 3/4 split and 1/4 split.
The 3/4 splits (=original reference splits, Drawer 117) were preserved in yellow bags.
The 1/4 splits are kept in plastic boxes (Drawer 118+119) and were picked fo preparing teaching slides.
 
There is a documentation with the collection including maps of site localities of the wells and range charts.
