Archive of Rolf F. Rutsch
Rolf F. Rutsch was one of the leading Tertiary mollusk paleontologist in Trinidad. In collaboration with W. P. Woodring, Peter Jung and and other specialists, Rutsch produced important publications on the mollusk faunas from Trinidad and Venezuela, and later in the Gulf of Mexico. Parts of this material is held in large collections at the Natural History Museum in Basel. Much of Rutsch's materials reappears or is cross-referenced to the collections of H.G. Kugler and to other micropaleontological collections from Trinidad held at the NMB. Rutsch has produced several unpublished special reports, 120 paleontological letters, and has published important papers in the open literature, all dealing with the molluscan fauna from the Paleocene to Pliocene formations in Trinidad and Venezuela. In the Basel museum these reports, paleontological letters, notes, sample- and locality-lists are held for reference.
